If I was the boss...

In-depth research was done for this blog; I was the boss for a day at a five star hotel in Hout Bay. I sat in the boss’s seat in a fancy air-conditioned office, surrounded by files, a laptop and my own phone. Now that I am the boss what would I do?

I would reward and recognise a job well done.
I would show the gratitude and respect for my employees that I expect of them to have for me.
I would not force respect but earn respect from my employees by my deeds.
I would emotionally support and build on each individual personality.
I would make sure that they know that I am the boss but also a human being and that I know that people have emotional problems and break-downs.
I would remind myself daily that people are different and has more going on in their lives than just work.
I would make sure my employees know what is expected of them, because knowing what is expected makes it easier to reach those expectations.
I would motivate and support them, so that better results are achieved.
I would make sure the employees share the company’s goals and are just as determined to reach them as I am.
I would make sure I learn about the various multi-cultural differences among my employees in order to respect it.
I would make sure culture and religion is respected amongst employees.
I would make the work environment as beautiful, relaxing and professional as possible, to make work more enjoyable.
I would try to make the employees like coming to work by making them comfortable and confident in their work environment.
I would try and make resources available to make work easier and more easily accomplishable.
