Not all who wander are lost

“Not all who wander are lost.” This statement is made by J.R.R. Tolkien.

The question is what does it mean to you as person?
To me it means that, not all who wander are lost, some people have no direction in life, no ambition and no drive, and that is why they are wandering. Not because they don’t know where to go but because they don’t want to go anywhere. People sometimes look as if they are wandering but actually they are just not doing anything.

It is important for us to keep our goals and ambitions in line and work towards them each and every single day, and if we get tired just to work even harder to reach them, otherwise we start wandering and we don’t want to loose our way or direction to what we are working for in life.

It is important to remember the following statement to keep us from wandering. “Where did we come from, what are we and where are we going.” (unknown) If we keep ourselves on the road of hard work, working towards that which is important to us in life we can only reach success.

How do you step from the top of a 100 foot pole?

Climbing a 100 foot pole is hard work, but how do you step from the top of that 100 foot pole.

If I think about this question I see it more figurative than literally, it makes me think about the statement: “The difference between being ordinary and extraordinary.” (unknown) Taking a challenge and making it reality.

It makes me think about the elections…
We have placed them all on a 100 foot poles with all their promises and inspirational logos, but the question is how will they step down from that 100 foot pole, prove themselves and keep their promises once they have been elected.

The faces of the leaders of the different political parties such as: Helen Zille – DA, Jacob Zuma – ANC, Patricia De Lille – ID, etc, are all around our cities and towns on big posters. These posters are about their promises and their way of how they will be leading our country once they have been chosen. All of them have been making all kinds of glamorous promises through the build up of the elections to the public in order to get into the favour of the public and to get the public’s vote.

The next leader will be appointed, that leader would have been chosen and appointed by us, the public. Then what…they will come down from the 100 foot pole and they will have to prove themselves. Will they be able to meet our expectations? That is where the reality strikes…will they take the leadership and make South Africa a better place or will we become the next Zimbabwe?

And what if they are not the chosen one, do they still have power or what was their position actually worth on the 100 foot pole? Do they still have a voice thereafter? The reality in all of this is “it is easier said than done” will they be able to step down from the pole and lead because the climbing up of the pole was hard work but the stepping down is even harder.

We are what we do

I believe we are what we do by “changing the world one small action at a time.” (wearewhatwedo: 2009)

In the movie Hansie the school principle said something truly important, he asked the boys in the assembly the following: “What makes great people great: Being leaders of society, making a difference in the world. We need to constantly build the world and the people around us. The world is anxiously waiting for heroes to rise up, the question is, are you going to be one of them?” (Hansie: 2009)

If we do nothing we are nothing, if we do everything we are everything. Don’t wait for someone else to do something, take the leadership and just do it. It is the only way things will really get done. If you feel passionate about something act on those feelings. People are so used to waiting for someone else or thinking someone else will do it, but the truth is…no they will not, you are the person everyone is waiting for, you can make the change.

If everyone can get this mindset so much can happen; the world might just become a better place. “You have to become the change you want to see in this World.” (Gandhi)

The main philosophy behind, we are what we do is:
“Small actions x lots of people = big change.” (wearewhatwedo: 2009)

We are afraid of the wrong things

I’m extremely afraid of failure, not reaching my goals in life, I’m so afraid of working so hard and not getting out on top.
I’m afraid of death, not for myself but for my loved one’s, I’m afraid of loosing them before saying goodbye.
I’m afraid of being disappointed; being lied to or hurt by someone I love.
I’m afraid of what the world am becoming and what the future has in store for me.

Are these things really the wrong things to be afraid of? Because I’m extremely scared of them.

These days I think people waste their time being afraid of the wrong things, people fear so much but what they fear means so little…such as not being in fashion, not being the perfect weight, not driving the right car or even not having the perfect partner. People are afraid of not living the correct life materialistically according to…”According to who?” is the question. We are living in a culture of fear, people live this fearful life and they start to forget to live this life.

The Colour of the Wind

According to Colour Therapy Healing, colour has been investigated and used for more than 2000 years and people are still learning about what affects it has on humans and the important role it plays in our everyday lives: “We are in a world where colours dominate our lives, from reading signs on the road to seeing if fruit is ripe to eat. It even affects our mood.” (colourthereapyhealing:2008)

The wind is explained as air in motion. Wind Energy explained that, “wind is produced by uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun.” Wind has been around forever and ever, since ancient times. “Over 5,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians used wind to sail ships on the Nile River.” (windenergy: 2008)

You are probably wondering why I gave you this introduction and how does the two connect…well this is how I see it.

God has been around since the beginning when everything was created beautifully, you can’t see God but you can feel His presence like you feel the wind and this having an affect on your mood just like colour. The wind is my insurance and my comfort that He is really there. The direction the wind blows, how strong the wind blows, and the heat of the wind, what you feel and see when the wind blows is all God.

What is your take on this statement that I’m making…do you feel God when the wind is blowing a certain colour?
