South African Bands Suck?

South African bands definitely do not suck. If you have a look at what some of the bands have achieved the last few years, this proving how internationally competitive the bands are.

South Africa’s music industry is a treasure box full of talent that are waiting to be discovered. With a few exceptions of ‘Idols’ trying to make it big in the music industry with five word and a catchy tune, South Africa’s quality of music has improved tremendously over the passed couple of years.

To name one success story that helps to prove this point is the well-known rock band Seether. Seether has recorded their third international studio album, with over two million albums sold and has been certified gold thrice. Seether is acknowledged as the heavyweights of South African Rock.

There are also few others that can be put into this category such as Arno Carstens, lead singer of Springbok Nude Girls, Bed on Bricks, Chris Chameleon, lead singer of Boo, Flat Stanley, Freshlyground, Just Jinger,Prime Circle, Taxi Violence, The Parlotones, and the list are never ending. These bands have all achieved numerous prices and awards and some of them have also made it internationally.

The South African music industry deserves a chance to prove itself. It still has a lot of potential for growth and needs to be taken into consideration in the International industry for the years to come.
